DIABLO III NEWS:
- Diablo III Announced (GameSpot)
- Diablo III Character Classes and Skill Creation (IGN)
AXE FACTS: Diablo III is the latest installment of the popular Blizzard franchise which was announced during Blizzard Entertainment Worldwide Invitational in Paris in June of 2008. The game is being developed for both PC and Mac and Blizzard has stated that it is attempting to make the game highly accessible to a wide range of systems. Direct X10 will not be required.
Diablo III’s game play looks to remain true to past iterations in the series, however, the incorporation of havok physics and included damage effects to enemies and environments will deliver a more modern take on the classic formula. Players can assume the role of one of five character classes, with the Barbarian and Witch Doctor being the initial classes revealed with the game itself.
In the game’s story (from official website) “Two decades have passed since the demonic lords, Diablo, Mephisto, and Baal, set out across the world of Sanctuary on a vicious rampage, twisting humanity to their unholy will. Yet for those who battled the Prime Evils, the memory fades slowly.
When Deckard Cain returns to the ruins of Tristram Cathedral seeking clues to defeat new stirrings of evil, a fiery harbinger of doom falls from the heavens, striking the very ground where Diablo once entered the world. This fire from the sky reawakens ancient evils and calls the heroes of Sanctuary to defend the mortal world against the rising powers of the Burning Hells once again.”
MY SLICE (The Axe Wielder): The announcement of Diablo III was really an exciting thing. I wasn’t a HUGE fan of the first two games, but I can certainly see why people were. I’m really looking forward to the game and all the non-stop action it’s poised to deliver. The controversial art style actually sits pretty well with me and I think the folks at Blizzard know what they’re doing enough for fans to trust them;)
LOOKING FORWARD TO:
- Awesome characters
- Tons of action
- Tons of loot
- Crazy atmosphere
- Multiplayer
CONCERNED ABOUT:
- System requirements
- Variety in game play throughout
