SOUL CALIBUR IV NEWS:

- New Soul Calibur IV Characters Revealed! (joystiq)

AXE FACTS: As the latest installment in Namco’s popular “Soul” series of fighting games, Soul Calibur IV offers a huge roster of recognizable fighters along with new, guest and bonus characters and the ability to play online for the first time in the franchises history. The game also features an in-depth character creation mode that allows players to create their own soul warrior to battle with both online and off. The controversial inclusion of Star Wars icons (Darth Vader in the PlayStation 3 version, Yoda in the Xbox 360 version and Darth Vader’s secret apprentice from The Force Unleashed in both) rounds out a robust roster of playable characters that can be utilized in any of the game’s five modes (Training, Arcade, Story, Museum, and the new Tower of Lost Souls).

MY SLICE (The Axe Wielder): The Soul franchise has always been one of my favorite for one simple reason; it’s FUN! Sure, there are cheap exploits (show me a fighting game WITHOUT those), character balance issues, accusations of button-mashing, and the occasional odd injection of a character or two (still not sure about the Star Wars thing…), but at the end of the day the series has always been a blast to play IMO. Soul Calibur IV looks to continue that trend with blazing-fast combat, super-sweet visuals, solid online play and a roster of oddball characters deeper than Gotham city. I simply can’t wait until this game slashes it’s way onto the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

LOOKING FORWARD TO:
- Tons of characters
- Kicking butt online
- Creating my super warrior
- That AMAZINGLY COOL announcer
- Next-gen graphics

CONCERNED ABOUT:
- Balance issues
- Online lag
- Star Wars??? WTF?
